Overview
As Group Vice President (GVP), Brand Strategy, you will drive growth across our people, product, reputation and revenue. You will lead mid-to-large clients or portfolios with revenue greater than $5MM, own senior client relationships and help shape the strategic quality and health of the business. You will bring the perspective of a seasoned strategist from a creative or traditional agency, pairing brand-building rigor with fluency across modern, connected marketing experiences.
This role calls for an imaginative, consumer-minded leader who canidentifyand pursue cross-sell opportunities, lead successfulnew businesspitchesand translate complex business challenges into clear, inspiring marketing strategies. You will ensure teams deliver an informed,insightfuland imaginative point of view while building the tools, practices and talent that strengthen Strategy across the agency.
Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Strategic Product
- Develop direct, collaborative relationships with key client stakeholders and become a trusted advisor to senior and executive leadership.
- Lead the development of brand, communications and marketing plans that connect client business priorities, audience insight,cultureand creativity.
- Define the strategic vision, organizingideaand cross-channel approach for major client engagements, portfolios and global 360 campaigns.
- Ensure teams deliver a strategic point of view that is informed, insightful,imaginativeand actionable from briefing through launch.
- Create sharp, inspiring creative briefs and partner closely with Creative leadership to focus teams, unlock ideas and improve the work.
- Strengthen individual strategies by connecting people and thinking across teams, capabilities,geographiesand lines of business.
- Develop a deep understanding of each client’s category, competitive context, unique businessdynamicsand consumer behavior.
- Guideinsight development using first-party data, primary and secondary research, culturalintelligenceand behavioral signals.
- Lead executive presentations, workshops and ideation sessions that create alignment,momentumand clear decisions.
Growth, Profitability & Reputation
- Identify, shape and steward growth opportunities through proactive recommendations, incremental programproposalsand cross-selling of relevant agency capabilities.
- Lead the strategic workstream fornew-businesspitches, partnering across disciplines to create differentiated, persuasive and winning solutions.
- Translate client challenges into well-scoped strategic engagements, defining the approach, deliverables, timing,effortand required talent.
- Balance strategic ambition with practical delivery, helping teams prioritize the work that creates the greatest client and business impact.
- Strengthen the reputation of Razorfish Strategy through elevated work, thought leadership, senior clientcounseland visible contributions to the broader discipline.
People & Discipline Leadership
- Lead, manage, guide and mentor junior through senior strategists with clarity,consistencyand an active commitment to their growth.
- Create meaningful stretch opportunities across new clients,pitchesand high-impact assignments to keep strong talent motivated andretained.
- Provide clear, timely feedback, define areas ofopportunityand help team members build actionable development plans.
- Activelyidentifyand recruit top strategy talent, contributing to workforce planning,staffingand succession across the discipline.
- Champion an environment where diverse perspectives improve the thinking, the creative product and the outcomes.
- Identify and drive adoption of process, practice, tools and ways of working that improve quality, collaboration, efficiency and results.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressively responsible experience developing brand,communicationsor marketing strategies, including significant leadership experience within a creative or traditional advertising agency.
- Demonstrated success leading strategy for complex, mid-to-large clients or portfolios and influencing executive-level client stakeholders.
- Deepexpertisein brand strategy, audience and cultural insight, positioning, communications planning, campaignstrategyand creative briefing.
- Exceptional storytelling,facilitationand presentation skills, with the ability to make strategy compelling to clients, creativeteamsand cross-functional partners.
- Curiosity, culturalfluencyand a point of view on how brands can create relevance and growth in a changing marketing landscape.
- A proventrack recordof developing brand and communications strategies that deliver against business KPIs, seta clear visionand enable meaningful client transformation.
- Experience developing strategies and activations across at least two, and preferably three, of the following: owned marketing or ecommerce experiences, addressablemediaand CRM.
- Ability to connect brand thinking to integrated execution across digital experiences, content, social, CRM,mediaand emerging channels.
- Advanced insight-development skills spanning primary and secondary research, online communities, ethnography, traditional and web-based focus groups, social listening, digital audits, behavioraldataand online/offline media measurement tools.
- An authoritative, inspiring presence with the judgment to challenge constructively, simplify complexity and build trust at every level.
- Provenpeopleleadership, including coaching senior talent, building high-performing teams, delivering clearfeedbackandretainingstrong strategists.

Compensation Range: USD $180,215.00 - USD $268,905.00/Annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. This role may also be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
