Job summary

Friends Hospital is seeking a qualified Group Therapist to contribute to expressive arts therapy, psychoeducational groups, and recreational activities on inpatient units. The role supports a multidisciplinary treatment team in a private psychiatric setting on a historic campus in Philadelphia, PA.

Primary duties include leading groups, documenting progress, and coordinating care with clinicians. A Master's in a related field and group leadership experience are preferred for this full-time

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a related field is required.
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a group leader in a psychiatric setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial activity therapy assessment to develop appropriate treatment goals
  • Facilitate 4 groups per day
  • Complete group documentation and communicate with other treatment team members
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation

Education

Master’s Degree in social work, mental health counseling, or in a related field
6 months experience as a group leader in a psychiatric hospital, partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient treatment program preferred

The Group Therapist is an important member of the Friends Hospital's inpatient multidisciplinary treatment team. The Group Therapist provides expressive arts therapy, psychoeducational groups, and recreational activities on Friends Hospital's inpatient psychiatric units.

Responsibilities
  • Perform initial activity therapy assessment to develop appropriate treatment goals
  • Facilitate 4 groups per day
  • Complete group documentation and communicate with other members of the treatment team via treatment planning and team meetings
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
