Job summary

Mass-RI Veterinary ER in Swansea, MA is seeking a visionary veterinarian to serve as Group President for our Massachusetts and Rhode Island region. You will provide leadership and strategic direction across multiple hospitals, mentor doctors, drive growth, and shape hospital performance while remaining connected to clinical medicine.

This is a hands-on leadership role with on-site presence, ER/urgent care coverage, and surgical responsibilities as appropriate.

Qualifications

• DVM or VMD with licensure in MA and RI.
• Emergency/Urgent Care experience.
• Willingness to perform surgery.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead hospital leadership teams and shape regional strategy.
• Drive doctor recruitment, retention, and development.
• Maintain clinical presence and ER/urgent care coverage as needed.
• Support growth and performance across Mass-RI Veterinary ER and partner clinics.

Opportunity Highlights

Compensation

• Base Salary: $200,000 - $250,000+ Based on Experience
• Annual Bonus + Equity Opportunity
• Total Compensation Potential Exceeding $250,000+

Schedule

• Monday-Friday
• Primarily onsite leadership presence
• Limited flexibility for remote project work

Clinical Involvement

• Remain actively connected to the medicine
• ER/Urgent Care coverage as needed
• Surgical responsibilities as appropriate
• Clinical coverage included within base compensation

• Leadership responsibilities spanning Coastal Veterinary Care and Wickford Veterinary Clinic

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Leadership & Culture

• Lead and develop hospital leadership teams
• Foster strong, people-centered cultures
• Mentor veterinarians and emerging leaders
• Support team engagement and retention
• Guide change management initiatives

Medical Excellence

• Promote high-quality patient care
• Support medical standards and best practices
• Partner with doctors on complex clinical cases
• Maintain a clinical presence within the hospitals

Growth & Strategy

• Support continued hospital growth and expansion
• Drive doctor recruiting and retention efforts
• Strengthen hospital performance and productivity
• Help position Mass-RI Veterinary ER for expanded doctor coverage
• Identify opportunities for strategic development across the region

Requirements

• DVM or VMD required
• Ability to obtain and maintain veterinary licensure in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island
• Emergency and/or Urgent Care experience required
• Ability and willingness to perform surgery
• Strong leadership and relationship-building skills
• Passion for mentoring veterinarians and supporting team development
• Willingness to work primarily onsite and remain clinically engaged
• Desire to lead, build, and grow alongside the hospitals you support

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of veterinary leadership experience
• Multi-hospital or regional leadership experience
• Medical Director experience
• Additional GP and/or Specialty experience
• Experience with recruiting, retention, and doctor development
• Experience influencing hospital performance and growthExposure to acquisitions, de novo hospitals, integrations, or expansion projects
