YMCA Boston is seeking a Group Educator to plan and implement classroom curriculum, assist with homework, and maintain a safe, engaging environment for students. The educator will serve as a liaison between the school day teacher and families to support academic and social‑emotional success.

The role emphasizes age‑appropriate activities fostering cognitive growth, self‑awareness, peer relationships, and character development, while modeling care, responsibility, honesty and respect.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Site Director/Program Administrator, the Group Educator plans and implements classroom curriculum, provides homework assistance, communicates information to families, and maintains a safe, healthy, warm, engaging, and attractive environment. The Group Educator will serve as a liaison between the school day teacher and parent to support the academic and social emotional success of the students in their classroom.

Age-appropriate activities should provide for growth in cognitive skills, self‑awareness, peer relationships, and character development. The educator conducts themself in a caring, responsible, honest, and respectful manner and is a role model for colleagues, as well as for program participants and families. In addition, he/she ensures focus on programming that promotes healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development.
