Job summary

Precision Fuzing and Sensors in Middletown, CT is hiring a Group Leader for the Machine Shop to supervise production, manage schedules, and lead shop staff. The role focuses on maintaining uptime, enforcing safety, and driving efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will mentor machinists, read blueprints, troubleshoot issues, and track quality metrics. First shift, Monday–Friday, with opportunities to optimize processes across the plant.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in machine operation and maintenance with supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with team members and management.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to machine operation.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

Group Leader, Machine Shop

Precision Fuzing and Sensors is actively hiring for a Machine Shop Group Leader in Middletown, CT. This role plays a pivotal part in our Production Department with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on schedules and organizational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience in supervising machine tool manufacturing personnel, while maintaining production schedules and overall machine shop supervision.

Responsibilities, in addition to performing general machinist duties:

• Oversee production and employees in assigned area of the Machine Shop
• Ensure that production schedules are met and that all machines are running at maximum efficiency
• Monitor a team of machine operators and provide training and guidance as needed
• Ensure that all safety procedures are followed and that all machines are properly maintained and repaired as needed
• Monitor inventory levels of materials and tools used in the machine shop and order supplies as needed
• Collaborate with other departments to coordinate production schedules and ensure that deadlines are met
• Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the production process and implement corrective action as needed
• Maintain records of production and quality metrics and report regularly to management
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and work with management to implement changes
• Perform first piece inspection

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in machine operation and maintenance, with experience in a supervisory role preferred
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate with team members and management
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to machine operation
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Proficient in the use of tools and equipment commonly used in machine shops
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules

Shift: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 6:30a-3:00p
