Job summary

Brooklyn Community Services is seeking a Group Leader Cornerstone for the Farragut site. The role involves supervising classrooms, coordinating activities for children to adults, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. You will work with an activity specialist to deliver engaging curricula

This in-person, site-based position requires weekend and evening availability, with hours aligned to school-year and summer programs. Competitive salary for the Brooklyn community program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required. Some college education preferred.
• Background in arts or activities such as sports, music, drama, or crafts is a plus.
• Must enjoy working with children and be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide activities for children, youth, adults and seniors with site staff.
• Supervise classroom operations with the help of an activity specialist.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols (DOH, DYCD, DOE, BCS).
• Develop school learning curriculum and activities for K-5.
• Plan and prepare daily activities and materials with the activity specialist.
• Supervise groups during activities, snack, recreation and field trips; support evening/weekend hours when needed.
• Take attendance and manage records in DYCD database.
• Help plan community events for families and neighborhoods.

Position: Group Leader Cornerstone - Farragut

Reports to: Cornerstone Program Director and Assistant Director

Work Location: 137 Belmont Ave, Brooklyn, NY, 11212

Salary Range: $35,000-$35,000

Hours/Schedule: FT 35 hours per week – School year program - Weekdays and Weekends Hours 2:00pm - 10:00pm; Summer program hours Weekdays and Weekends 3:00pm - 11:00pm;

All services and activities are In-Person and based at Site Location;

Must have the ability to work on weekends and evenings

Brooklyn Community Services is one of Brooklyn’s first and largest non-sectarian social services agencies. Cornerstone, Learning Lab and Beacon Programs provide academic, art and recreational opportunities to children, teens and adults in NYCHA community centers and DOE schools. BCS Cornerstone and Beacon Programs are located in Brownsville, Fort Greene, Coney Island and Sunset Park.

Group Leaders work collaboratively with Site Director and Assistant Director to provide activities for children, youth, adults and seniors; provide supervision of, and are responsible for the running a classroom (s) with the assistance of an activity specialist.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Site Director and Assistant Director to provide activities for children, youth, adults and seniors;
• Supervision and responsibility of running a classroom (s) with the assistance of an activity specialist;
• Knowledge and compliance of all DOH, DYCD, DOE and BCS health and safety protocols;
• Development of all school learning curriculum and activities for children ages K-5;
• Coordinate planning and preparation of activities and materials for daily schedule in conjunction with activity specialist;
• Responsible for supervision to groups of children during classroom activities, snack time, recreation and field trips. Provide effective supervision and activities to middle/high school participants during evening and weekend hours if applicable to site;
• Responsible for taking daily attendance and entering attendance into DYCD database;
• Development and planning community events for children, parents and community;
• Oversee and monitor authorized parental/guardian drop off and pick up of children following all health and safety protocols;
• Outreach to parents and community to promote the program, activities and upcoming events;
• Attend and comply with training requirements, including all healthy and safety protocols;
• Other responsibilities as needed and requested by site director;

Qualifications Required
