Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, Massachusetts invites applications for a Group Leader to direct the AI Technology & Systems Group (Group 52) within Division 5. The role shapes strategic vision, oversees research portfolios, and leads the development of prototypes for national security AI.

You will manage 70+ staff, cultivate sponsor relationships with DoD and IC partners, mentor leaders, and drive collaborations with MIT, academia, and industry to transition capabilities to operations.

Qualifications

• PhD in CS/EE/Math/Physics or related field (MS with strong track record considered).
• At least 10 years of technical leadership experience in AI/Cyber/HLT domains.
• Proven excellence in AI, AI Security, or related advanced HLT/multimedia systems.
• Strong strategic planning and execution skills; ability to align vision with operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for executive briefings.

Responsibilities

• Define, lead, and execute the long-term strategic vision for the 70+ members of Group 52.
• Identify and shape strategically important vectors for internal investment in AI Security.
• Maintain awareness of national needs and technology trends to inform planning.
• Develop and sustain strategic relationships with senior government and military leaders.
• Foster collaborations with MIT campus and university partners.
