Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Group Leader to support adults with developmental disabilities in program-based and community settings. You will guide Community Support Specialists, coordinate daily activities, and help the Program Manager with operations and special events to enhance participant experiences.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 3 years of relevant experience, and leadership exposure.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; foreign equivalency verification required.
  • 3 years of experience working with adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated lead or team lead experience.
  • Ability to pass CMT Training and become MBON certified.

Responsibilities

  • Inform parents/caregivers of extra clothing and supplies needs when necessary.
  • Interact with participants, families and staff at all times.
  • Direct Community Support Specialist on-site and in the community to offer activities.
  • Assist staff and participants in implementing daily activities on-site and in the community.
  • Ensure data from activities and goals are recorded accurately.
  • Maintain staff-to-participant ratios (e.g., 1:1 and 1:3).
  • Report concerns and incidents per agency protocol.
  • Support program maintenance, cleanliness and safety.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance and training completion.
  • Participate in staff meetings and monthly activities.
  • Pass medication to participants as directed.

JOB SUMMARY: The Group Leader assists adults with developmental disabilities in both program-based and community settings to support the achievement of their person-centered goals and desired outcomes. This role serves as a lead resource within the Community Options Program by providing guidance and support to Community Support Specialists, coordinating daily activities, and promoting high-quality delivery service. The Group Leader also collaborates with the Program Manager to support program operations, ensure compliance with established procedures, and lead special events, projects, and community engagement activities that enhance participant experiences and outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inform parents/caregivers of extra clothing and supplies needs when necessary.
  • Actively communicate and appropriately interact with the Community Options participants, their families, and their team members at all times.
  • Direct Community Support Specialist while on-site and/or in the community to ensure identified activities are offered.
  • Assist staff and participants in implementing daily activities both on-site and in the community.
  • Ensure that the implementation of goals and documentation of data from activities (to include the participant’s response to the activity), as well as the goals for participants with Behavior Supports are properly recorded.
  • Work with the Program Manager to ensure that proper ratios are being met at all times (i.e., 1:1 and 1:3).
  • Report any concerns regarding clients or staff to the Program Manager as well as report all incidents in accordance with agency/program protocol.
  • Support the maintenance and operation of the program (i.e. maintain cleanliness of site and involve the participants when possible).
  • Aid the Program Manager in ensuring the Program and staff are in compliance at all times, including staff attending and successfully completing mandated trainings.
  • Assist the team in the event a behavior concern with a participant occurs and intervention is required.
  • Participate in and document fire drills and other activities that support health and safety.
  • Participate in regular monthly staff meetings.
  • Pass medication to participants as directed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Verification of foreign equivalency required.
  • 3 years of experience working with adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated lead or team lead experience
  • Ability to pass CMT Training and become certified by the MBON. Must maintain certification.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with participants, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook 365, and electronic documentation systems.
  • Must possess a valid local, driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record.
