Job summary

Astemo Ltd. in Monroe, GA seeks a Group Lead for the Steering Machining Department to oversee production line activities, coordinate with Mfg. Eng., Maintenance and Quality, and drive efficiency on CNC-based processes.

The candidate will troubleshoot CNC equipment, perform tool changes, maintain safety and organization on the line, and ensure accurate reporting of production metrics while supporting overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with machining or high-speed equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret CMM reports, GD&T, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with quality control, inspection tools, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Able to read work instructions and complete basic production reports.
  • Must be physically able to perform tasks involving frequent bending, lifting up to 25 lbs regularly, and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining control over the production line at all times with collaboration with Mfg. Engineering, Maintenance and Quality.
  • Perform troubleshooting on CNC Machines to identify root causes and escalate to relevant teams.
  • Perform tool changes on CNC equipment including hobbing, grinding, milling, and turning.
  • Ensure all daily production activities are communicated to Supervisors.
  • Participate in troubleshooting product quality and performance as needed.
  • Keep production line safe, neat, clean and organized.
  • Assist as needed on the production line.
  • Respect work hours and support production goals; overtime may be required.
  • Follow ISO14000 & TS16949 procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain reports on production, scrap, and downtime.
  • Check product/component dimensions via in-process inspection with indicators and gauges.
  • Monitor equipment for anomalies and address issues.
  • Change simple parts and fixtures to facilitate changeover.
  • Perform visual and manual checks for defects.
  • Record process equipment settings with verification sheets.

Position: Group Lead

Shift: F Shift - Friday to Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Essential Functions
  • Maintaining control over the production line at all times which may require close interaction with Mfg. Engineering, Maintenance and Quality.
  • Perform troubleshooting activities on CNC Machines to gather root cause and elevate to Mfg. Engineering, Maintenance, Production and Quality.
  • Perform tool changes on CNC equipment including hobbing, grinding, milling, and turning machines.
  • Ensure all daily production activities are thoroughly communicated to Supervisors.
  • May be required to perform tasks associated with troubleshooting product quality and performance.
  • Maintain the production line in a safe, neat, clean and organized environment.
  • Assist as needed on the production line.
  • Respect work hours, support production goals and time-tables, which may require overtime.
  • Ensures the following:
  • Utilizing knowledge of ISO14000 & TS16949 ensures all associates follow procedures and work instructions.
  • All production, scrap, and down time reports are completed properly and timely.
  • Product and/or component dimensions are checked via in-process inspection check sheets with use of various indicators and gauges as described in procedures or work instructions.
  • Equipment is monitored for unusual sounds, movements or appearance that may indicate problems. Addresses any abnormalities.
  • Changing of simple parts and fixtures to facilitate changeover of product types.
  • Visually and manually check for defects in product or workmanship.
  • Recording of process equipment settings and conditions using equipment verification check sheets.

  • Occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular lifting and moving of parts and tools up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing/warehouse setting with exposure to moving machinery and loud noise levels.
  • Use of personal protective equipment is required in designated areas.
