Job summary

Astemo Americas, Inc. is seeking a Group Lead Shift for the E shift (7:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.) to oversee the production line and coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams.

The role requires a high school diploma, 3+ years in manufacturing, demonstrated leadership, and the ability to read CMM reports, GD&T, and technical drawings. Safety, quality, and timely reporting are key expectations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with machining or high-speed equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret CMM reports, GD&T, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with quality control, inspection tools, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Able to read work instructions and complete basic production reports.
  • Must be physically able to perform tasks involving frequent bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs regularly), and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the production line and coordinate with Mfg. Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality.
  • Troubleshoot CNC machines to identify root causes and communicate with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Production and Quality.
  • Perform tool changes on CNC equipment including hobbling, grinding, milling, and turning machines.
  • Ensure all daily production activities are communicated to Supervisors.
  • May be required to troubleshoot product quality and performance.
  • Maintain a safe, neat, clean and organized production area.
  • Assist as needed on the production line.
  • Support production goals and time-tables, potentially including overtime.
  • Ensure ISO14000 & TS16949 procedures and work instructions are followed.
  • Complete production, scrap, and downtime reports accurately and promptly.
  • Check product/component dimensions using in-process inspection sheets and gauges.
  • Monitor equipment for unusual sounds or movements and address abnormalities.
  • Change parts and fixtures to facilitate changeovers.
  • Visually and manually inspect for defects.
  • Record process settings using verification check sheets.

Position Overview

Group Lead Shift: E Shift - Monday to Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Essential Functions
  • Maintaining control over the production line at all times which may require close interaction with Mfg. Engineering, Maintenance and Quality.
  • Perform troubleshooting activities on CNC Machines to gather root cause and escape to Mfg. Engineering, Maintenance, Production and Quality.
  • Perform tool changes on CNC equipment including hobbing, grinding, milling, and turning machines.
  • Ensure all daily production activities are thoroughly communicated to Supervisors.
  • May be required to perform tasks associated with troubleshooting product quality and performance.
  • Maintain the production line in a safe, neat, clean and organized environment.
  • Assist as needed on the production line.
  • Respect work hours, support production goals and time-tables, which may require overtime.
  • Ensures the following: Utilizing knowledge of ISO14000 & TS16949 ensures all associates follow procedures and work instructions.
  • All production, scrap, and down time reports are completed properly and timely.
  • Product and/or component dimensions are checked via in-process inspection check sheets with use of various indicators and gauges as described in procedures or work instructions.
  • Equipment is monitored for unusual sounds, movements or appearance that may indicate problems.
  • Addresses any abnormalities.
  • Changing of simple parts and fixtures to facilitate changeover of product types.
  • Visually and manually check for defects in product or workmanship.
  • Recording of process equipment settings and conditions using equipment verification check sheets.

Physical Requirements

Frequent walking, standing, bending, and use of hands for handling tools and controls. Occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs. Regular lifting and moving of parts and tools up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment

Manufacturing/warehouse setting with exposure to moving machinery and loud noise levels. Use of personal protective equipment is required in designated areas.
