Job summary

Lonza in Bend, Oregon is seeking a Group Lead for Early Phase Clinical Manufacturing to lead a high-performing team on a 1st-class production floor. You will drive safety, quality, and efficiency while coordinating cross-functional efforts and maintaining regulatory readiness in a fast-paced setting.

Key responsibilities include coaching staff, overseeing batch execution, and leading process improvements, with relocation assistance available for eligible candidates and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and with process equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily production, safety, and quality operations to meet goals.
• Coordinate cross-functional manufacturing and schedule maintenance.
• Oversee batch execution and optimize cycle times across lines.
• Lead continuous improvement, equipment qualification, and efficiency projects.
• Coach staff with regular 1:1s, reviews, and career planning.
• Manage floor personnel, lead shift meetings, and daily tasks.
• Support employee lifecycle activities including onboarding and performance.
• Ensure inspection readiness, compliance, and prepare for audits.
• Lead safety investigations, facility walk-throughs, and action plans.
• Author deviation investigations, change controls, and SOPs.

What we are looking for:

• High school diploma or GED at minimum.
• Pharmaceutical manufacturing and process equipment experience is preferred.
• Experience f ostering an inclusive culture that embraces continuous improvement and innovation.
• Frequent, and sometimes continuous, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• High level of dexterity required for handling tools, manipulating small parts, and repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers.
• Frequently required to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with some roles requiring lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Personal Protection Equipment as required.
