YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead engaging group fitness classes in a safe, inclusive environment aligned with YMCA standards. This role focuses on promoting wellness, designing personalized workouts, and encouraging ongoing member participation.

The position offers a starting hourly wage of $20 and a comprehensive benefits package. Applicants should have basic fitness knowledge, experience with multiple formats, and at least 25 hours of practical

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of fitness or equivalent work/education experience.
• Experience with multiple formats in fitness classes.
• At least 25 hours of practical experience as a fitness class instructor.
• Ability to lead a fitness class and motivate/educate members.

Responsibilities

• Plans and instructs fitness classes with a personalized approach following YMCA standards and guidelines.
• Designs and implements safe, effective and enjoyable fitness programs for members.
• Observes and discusses individual progress with participants and develops rapport.
• Keeps accurate records of members’ attendance and progress.
• Sets up and takes down class equipment and reports equipment problems.
• Promotes YMCA programs and motivates long-term participation.
• Ensures safe and effective workouts and reports injuries or equipment issues.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings and maintains current certifications.
