Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor at Charles River YMCA to lead energizing, safe classes for all fitness levels and build community.

You will modify classes to meet varied health, ability and cultural needs, collaborate with Health and Wellness staff, and help members achieve their wellness goals. Part-time hours with $30-$40 per hour, plus YMCA benefits and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in Group Exercise setting.
• NCCA accredited certification (ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA, etc.).
• Current certification for teaching a specific group exercise format.
• Experience in health and wellness programming and group instruction.
• Understanding of marketing and events related to wellness.

Responsibilities

• Lead energizing, safe, and educational group classes as directed by the supervisor.
• Answer questions to support participants in achieving health goals.
• Maintain wellness knowledge through YUSA courses and external trainings.
• Build authentic relationships with members and connect them with the YMCA.
• Observe and adapt classes for varied abilities, health, and culture.
• Celebrate participant achievements and track attendance with MotionVibe.
• Follow YMCA policies and respond to emergencies.
• Resolve member issues professionally in line with YMCA values.
