Job summary

Brightpoint seeks a Group Facilitator - Fatherhood Support to lead and coordinate weekly Parents Care & Share groups for Spanish-speaking fathers in Central Illinois, near Bloomington. The role includes planning meetings, arranging for snacks, and developing parent leadership within the community.

The position requires a high school diploma (Bachelor’s preferred), bilingual English/Spanish, and at least two years’ group facilitation experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in a social services or human services field preferred.
  • Commitment to complete agency-sponsored group facilitator training within 60 days of hire required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in facilitating groups preferred.
  • Familiarity with local community resources preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes and facilitates support groups for assigned programs.
  • May plan and facilitate other events and group activities.
  • Attends community outreach events to promote the program.
  • Trains and coaches group participants in leadership skills.
  • Provides crisis intervention during group meetings.
  • Recruits parents/guardians for group services.
  • Provides referral information to group participants about community resources.
  • Acts as a liaison for group participants and resources.
  • Maintains required documentation and reports.

As a Group Facilitator - Fatherhood Support

You will plan and lead the weekly meetings of a Parents Care & Share group for Spanish-speaking fathers in Central Illinois and engage in other relevant group work, such as outreach, arranging for food or snacks at group meetings, or parent leadership development in the area. The Group Facilitator - Fatherhood Support also develops safe and trusting relationships with fathers, so that services build on family strengths and referrals can be provided for additional supportive services as needed. Core Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions
  • Plans, organizes and facilitates support groups for assigned program(s) in accordance with program model(s); groups may include parent education, emotional support, socialization/interaction of children and families, and/or other components.
  • May plan and facilitate other events and group activities, such as community resource events, family fun events, or group connection events as determined by program model and needs.
  • May attend other community outreach events to promote the program.
  • Trains and coaches group participants in group leadership skills.
  • Provides crisis intervention during group meetings.
  • Recruits parents/guardians for group services.
  • Provides referral information to group participants about community resources.
  • Acts as a liaison for group participants and community resources, as needed.
  • Serves as a liaison between various agency programs and staff, as assigned.
  • May pick up supplies and/or food for the group(s), as assigned.
  • Participates on agency and community committees and networks, as assigned.
  • Completes and submits required documentation and reports within required timeframes.
Candidate Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in a social services or human service field preferred.
  • Commitment to complete agency-sponsored group facilitator training within 60 days of hire required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in facilitating groups preferred.
  • Familiarity with local community resources preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of group dynamics preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license, current auto insurance and access to a reliable vehicle may be required to execute the position’s responsibilities, depending on program assignment.
Job Details
  • Compensation: Hourly Range $18.84-$20.50; offer is commensurate with experience. The salary range provided represents our current estimate for this role at the time of posting and is subject to change. The final salary will be determined based on a range of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate's relevant experience, education, qualifications, skills, certifications, and alignment with organizational needs.   • Location: Parent Support Groups occur in community-based locations in Central Illinois, near Bloomington IL.
  • Schedule: Hourly Part-time (5 hours/week); Parent Support Groups are held weekly and scheduled with both community need and the facilitator's availability in mind.
