Greater Midland is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead classes under the Wellness Coordinator. You will create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all fitness levels, demonstrate proper form, and communicate class format and expectations to participants.

You will maintain punctual schedules, foster a high-energy community, collaborate with teammates, attend trainings, and monitor safety, offering modifications as needed.

Job description

Under the direction of the Wellness Coordinator, the Group Exercise Instructor will instruct group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels. Must maintain high personal standards and adhere to and carry out the Purpose and Values of Greater Midland.

Major Job Responsibilities

• Communication: introduce self, class format and expectations to participants; be current on other classes and programs to inform participants.
• Professionalism: respect class schedule with punctuality, display an open and friendly attitude, being available to support participants.
• Motivation and Interaction: provide easy to follow, clear instructions, engage throughout class time, create a high-energy environment, cultivate a community amongst participants, display empathy.
• Collaboration and Teamwork: be willing to help other team members with programming needs, classes and shift coverage; attend staff meetings and required training sessions.
• Safety: ensure moments are safe, offering safety tips and reminders, monitor class intensity and offer modifications; demonstrate exercises properly; report equipment concerns to supervisor.
• Professional Growth and Development: continually improve on knowledge and skills through formal or informal learning.
• Consistently demonstrate leadership behaviors aligned with Greater Midland’s values.

Physical Requirements

Wellness Center is located in the Greater Midland Community Center. Regular communication and contact with Partner Agencies, employees and members. Class (dependent) may require: standing, bending, stooping and lifting equipment.
