The Group Exercise Instructor 3 will be responsible for designing and teaching safe and appropriate group exercise classes for members and guests of The Kroc Center in Salem, OR. The Group Exercise Instructor 3 will design all class choreography, perform music selection, and determine equipment required for each exercise class. The activities of the members and guests they oversee will take place in all fitness spaces along with any meeting rooms and the gymnasium or aquatics area as assigned by the Department Coordinator. The Group Exercise Instructor 3 will ensure that all exercise and equipment used is done safely and appropriately to the exercise class demographics. The Group Exercise Instructor 3 will also complete any other assigned task as directed by the Department Coordinator.

Skills and Abilities: Effective understanding of fitness and exercise principles, methods, and instruction. Good knowledge of anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and health. Effective verbal and written communications skills, ability to multitask, and the ability to fill-in for co-workers as the work schedule requires. Requires the ability to follow directives of the designated supervisor. Good knowledge of group exercise/fitness/gym/aquatics equipment required. Ability to initiate code blue emergency calls or respond to an emergency situation if one arises.
Organization: The ability to design and implement a detailed group exercise class with adequate progression, rest, and variety. Must be able to initiate or respond in writing to any incident response, unusual occurrence, or safety concern within the facility grounds while on duty.
Equipment Used: The following equipment is used on either a daily, weekly, or monthly basis: Sound system, microphone, telephone, computer fax/copy machines, and computer time sheet. Familiar with current Microsoft software computer programs including Word and Excel, e‑mail, and internet. This position must have a good understanding of all group exercise, fitness, weight and cardio equipment and their proper use and instruction.
