Position Summary

As a Fitness Instructor, you will create a safe, engaging, and motivating environment for members and guests through professionally led fitness classes and wellness programs. You will educate, encourage, and empower participants while promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering exceptional guest service. This role requires strong instructional skills, the ability to demonstrate proper exercise techniques, and a passion for helping others achieve their fitness goals.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes for members and guests of varying fitness levels.
• Demonstrate proper exercise techniques, movement patterns, and class formats.
• Provide modifications and progressions to accommodate individual fitness needs.
• Create a welcoming, positive, and professional atmosphere for all participants.
• Greet members and guests by name whenever possible.
• Assist members in achieving their wellness and fitness goals through education and encouragement.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of fitness studios and equipment.
• Inspect, clean, and sanitize equipment regularly.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and administer CPR or first aid when necessary.
• Follow all safety, operational, and service standards.
• Attend required meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR/AED Certification required.
• Minimum six months of experience in a professional fitness center, wellness facility, health club, or studio environment.
• Current certification from an accredited fitness organization required.
• Strong knowledge of exercise science, fitness instruction, proper exercise technique, and participant safety.
• Excellent communication and guest service skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to demonstrate exercises, movements, and class formats for extended periods.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stretch, lift, and move throughout scheduled classes.
• Must maintain a professional level of physical fitness appropriate for instructing classes.
• Ability to assist participants and provide hands‑on guidance when appropriate.
