The Monroe County YMCA is seeking part-time group exercise instructors to lead a variety of classes, with emphasis on strength-based and boot camp-style sessions in early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Instructors will provide quality group instruction, follow professional standards, and uphold YMCA core values.

Responsibilities include ensuring participant safety, modifying for levels, recording attendance, and maintaining equipment.

Formación

• Current CPR certification and Bloodborne Pathogens training within 30 days of employment.
• Yoga instructors must have a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certificate.
• Pilates instructors must have a certificate from an authorized Pilates Certification Program.
• All other land-based, aquatic, and cycling instructors must have an NCCA-accredited certification.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Strong leadership qualities.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational with large groups.
• Possess good verbal and interpersonal skills.

Responsabilidades

• Provide a safe group exercise class with varied movements.
• Provide modifications for different levels while leading group exercise classes.
• Always ensure the safety of all exercise participants.
• Know each participant's name and fitness goals.
• Arrive early and stay late after class as needed.
• Monitor and record class attendance.
• Ensure equipment is in proper working order and used correctly.
• Notify supervisor of unsafe conditions, injuries, accidents, or member complaints.
• Check communication outlets routinely.
• Follow substitution policies and be willing to sub for others.
• Attend fitness meetings and trainings sessions.
• Be familiar with emergency procedures and codes.
• Keep all certifications current.
• Be a team player.

Location: Southeast and Northwest Branches FLSA Status: Part-time

Reports to: Group Exercise Program Director

Salary Range: $15-$25/hour depending upon experience

POSITION SUMMARY

The Monroe County YMCA is currently seeking part-time enthusiastic, group exercise instructors to teach a variety of group exercise classes! We are specifically looking for individuals to teach strength-based classes and boot camp-style classes in the early AM, evenings, and/or weekends.

A YMCA Group Exercise Instructor provides quality instruction in a group setting which contributes to each member's health and fitness goals. Instructors must follow group exercise professional standards, build positive relationships with members and staff, and exhibit the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide a safe group exercise class with appropriate and variedmovements.
• Provide modifications for different levels while leading group exerciseclasses.
• Always ensure the safety of all exercise participants.
• Attempt to know each participant's name and his/her individual fitnessgoals.
• Arrive early/stay late after class as needed to be available tomembers.
• Monitor and record classattendance.
• Ensure that equipment is in proper working order and that it is usedcorrectly.
• Notifysupervisorofunsafeconditions,injuries,accidents,neededrepairsormember complaintsimmediately.
• Check communication outlets routinely (email, Group ExPro).
• Follow YMCA substitution policies and be willing to sub forothers.
• Attend all fitness meetings and trainingsessions.
• Be familiar with all emergency procedures, exits andcodes.
• Keep all certificationscurrent.
• Be a teamplayer.

QUALIFICATIONS

• CurrentCPRCertificationandBloodBornePathogenstrainingcanbeobtainedatthe YMCA and must be completed within 30 days ofemployment.
• Yoga instructors must have a minimum of 200 YogaAlliance Approved Certificate of Training.
• PilatesinstructorsmusthaveacertificateofcompletionfromanauthorizedPilates CertificationProgram.
• Allotherland-based,aquatics,andcyclinginstructorsmusthaveaNationalcertification through an organization that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA); upon employment or within six months of hiredate.
• Dependable andpunctual.
