Job summary

TPG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Group Controller to join our Corporate team in McKinney, TX. The role oversees financial operations for our hotel portfolio, including budgeting, reporting, and controls.

You will manage a finance team, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and partner with corporate for strategic planning and cost optimization. A strong hospitality finance background is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Several years of experience in financial management, ideally within the hospitality industry.
Strong knowledge of financial and accounting software.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Knowledge of local and federal financial regulations.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze financial statements, month-end closing, and P&L report.
Provide financial reports to hotel management and corporate office.
Develop and maintain the hotel's annual budget; monitor actuals vs budget.
Create financial forecasts and participate in strategic planning.
Oversee payroll processing and tax-related matters.
Manage accounts payable and receivable; supervise cash flow and internal controls.
Lead the finance team and coordinate with internal/external auditors.

Job Overview

The Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial and accounting operations of the hotel. Their primary role is to ensure the efficient and accurate management of the hotel's financial resources, including budgeting, financial reporting, cash management, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and hotel policies. This role will be based out of our Operations Headquarters in McKinney, TX.

What You’ll Be Doing

Prepare and analyze financial statements, month‑end closing, and P&L report.
Provide financial reports to the hotel's management and corporate office.

Budgeting and Forecasting

Develop and maintain the hotel's annual budget.
Monitor and compare actual financial results to budgeted figures.
Create financial forecasts and participate in strategic planning.
Conduct in‑depth financial analysis to identify cost‑saving opportunities and revenue‑enhancing strategies.

Funds Management

Manage and oversee the hotel's cash flow, ensuring funds are available for operational needs.
Monitor daily cash receipts and disbursements.
Utilize financial software and systems to record and track financial transactions.

Accounts Payable and Receivable

Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes.
Ensure timely payment to vendors and collection from customers.

Auditing and Compliance

Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with financial regulations and hotel policies.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.

Payroll and Tax Management

Oversee payroll processing and tax‑related matters.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.

Team Management

Lead and manage the finance team, including accountants and clerical staff.
Provide guidance and training to staff members.

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is preferred.
Several years of experience in financial management, ideally within the hospitality industry.
Strong knowledge of financial and accounting software.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort

Physical work is a primary part of many of our hotel and resort jobs. Physical requirements include extended standing and walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Some work is performed in an interior hotel environment with equipment and machines.
