Job Overview

The Group Art Supervisor manages the development, design, and execution of all Agency offerings for themselves and their direct reports. They collaborate with the account services team to prioritize projects, oversee junior art team members, mentor career development, and ensure all work aligns with strategy, brand consistency, and excellence.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities by motivating the team, facilitating creative thinking, and maintaining high morale.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements within the department.
  • Keep Creative Director(s) briefed on creative projects in a timely manner.
  • Establish credibility with clients by developing knowledge of their business and internal structures.
  • Manage outside vendors and resources, balancing cost and creative quality.
  • Stay informed of current advertising, design, and visual communication trends.
  • Explore and apply cutting‑edge design styles and imagery.
  • Work across various media, including print production processes.
  • Contribute to new business efforts creatively and as a steward of work.
Brand Champion
  • Act as a brand steward, maintaining integrity and excellence in all materials.
  • Ensure brand consistency throughout each project and across accounts.
  • Provide fresh, strategic thinking for brand marketing and advertising initiatives.
  • Align Agency work with strategy and contribute to client business growth.
  • Collaborate with copywriters to develop conceptual approaches that meet client objectives.
  • Attend photo‑shoots, providing on‑the‑spot feedback to vendors.
  • Serve as a gatekeeper for final products, ensuring highest quality and clear brand messaging.
  • Present and communicate creative concepts and rationale effectively to team and clients.
  • Demonstrate both big‑picture thinking and attention to detail.
Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Client, Agency Creative, and Account teams.
  • Create a collaborative work environment across departments and manage conflicts professionally.
  • Work with account service from project start to finish to meet budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal business group departments (studio, editorial, traffic, imaging, production).
Additional Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively and professionally internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate strong problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Remain calm under high‑pressure situations.
  • Project a professional attitude and foster a positive team atmosphere.
  • Assist other department/team members as workload allows.

Management Responsibilities
  • Manage time and prioritize all jobs effectively.
  • Oversee junior team members, monitor projects, delegate assignments, and approve work.
  • Monitor overall workload for efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Assist supervisor in resolving staff issues including performance and presentation.
  • Recommend adjustments to roles and procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Help interview, train, and orient new team members.
  • Provide constructive feedback and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Offer ongoing guidance and serve as a resource on policies and procedures.
  • Report workload challenges to supervisor, possibly recommending freelancers or staffing adjustments.
  • Oversee team time‑off schedules, reporting, and accurate time sheet maintenance.
