Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts is seeking a Groundsperson for a full-time, ground-based role. You will support the crew by working from the ground, following safety rules to maintain a clean and safe work zone and assist with material handling, equipment setup, and cleanup.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent preferred, a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred), and be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Overtime and weekend hours may be required to respond to emergencies.

• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work from the ground to support the crew and help enforce safe practice and rules.
• Follow safety rules to guarantee a clean and safe work zone.
• Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas.
• Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
• Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
• Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
• Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

Job description

• Pay or shift range: $16 USD to $18 USD
  This is an estimated pay range for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.
