Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts is hiring a Groundsperson in Dallas, TX. You will perform vegetation management duties from the ground, operate basic equipment, and help maintain a safe work area while supporting storm-response operations.

Responsibilities include staging, loading, and unloading materials, and assisting with equipment maintenance. A high school diploma is preferred; a valid license is required, CDL is a plus. Travel is required during storm restoration.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and assist with vegetation management tasks.
• Work from ground to clear debris using saws, pruners and related equipment.
• Set up and break down staging areas and transport materials as needed.
• Load/unload trucks with logs, brush, debris; operate trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment; report major repairs.
• Assist in tying knots and setting up lines; ensure worker and public safety.
• Work overtime during emergencies and possible weekend shifts.

Job description

• Pay or shift range: $16 USD to $18 USD
  This is an estimated pay range for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Description

• Always follow and help enforce safe practice and rules.
• Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas.
• Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
• Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
• Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
• Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
