Job summary

Riggs Tree Service is seeking a safety-conscious Groundsperson to operate chainsaws and chipper equipment on job sites, perform daily inspections, adhere to PPE standards, and follow established safety protocols to protect the crew and the public.

You will maintain tools, set up safe work zones, assist with pre-operational checks and basic equipment maintenance, and collaborate with a team to complete tasks efficiently in various outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating chainsaws and chippers safely and efficiently.
• Strong knowledge of safety features, PPE, and emergency protocols.
• Ability to work in a team and follow all safety guidelines.
• Experience performing pre-operational checks and basic equipment maintenance.
• First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Chainsaw operations: demonstrate safe use and features, lifting techniques, PPE, and risk mitigation.
• Chipper operations: safe startup/shutdown, safety devices checks, and debris handling.
• Emergency procedures: respond to hazards and follow rescue protocols.
