Job summary

American Campus Communities is seeking a Groundskeeper for The Castilian in Austin, TX. You will maintain interior and exterior areas, including common spaces and amenities, to uphold curb appeal and safety.

The role offers training and opportunities to gain certifications while growing across ACC properties. Responsibilities include cleaning, grounds keeping, make-readies, turnover support, and some pool maintenance; device handling and safety are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Experience in general labor and property maintenance; on-the-job training provided.
• Ability to follow multi-step instructions and work safely.
• Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs and operate facility equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Clean interior and exterior areas to standard across the property.
• Maintain grounds including trash collection and common areas.
• Vacuum, mop, and shampoo floors in resident rooms and common spaces; stock bathrooms.
• Assist service team with work orders, furniture moves, and supplies.
• Support make-ready duties and apartment turnover processes.
• Assist with pool maintenance (if applicable) and pressure washing.
• Ensure tools and supplies are organized and stored properly.
• Follow safety protocols and participate in ongoing training.

Groundskeeper - The Castilian

Department: Property Maintenance

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: The Castilian - Austin, TX

Reporting To: Service Manager

Description

As a Groundskeeper, you'll play a critical part in maintaining an ACC student housing community. In this role, you will maintain buildings and grounds, including common areas and amenities, to enhance and maintain the property's curb appeal. At ACC, there are always opportunities to gain new certifications, and grow in your career - whether it is by supporting nearby properties or on the job training.

• Clean the interior and exterior of the property to standard.
• Property groundskeeping, including trash collection.
• Vacuuming, mopping and/or shampooing floors in resident rooms and common areas; stocking bathrooms
• Assist the service team with work orders, moving furniture, and unloading and storing supplies.
• Support the service team with apartment make-ready duties, including trash outs, cleaning, and painting.
• Assist in property turnover process.
• Support the service team with pool maintenance (if applicable) and pressure washing.
• Safely operate all facility equipment, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
• Assist in maintaining clean and orderly shops, storage areas, and back-of house environments, ensuring all tools and supplies are organized.
• Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Groundskeeper role is a reliable and detail-oriented individual with experience in or willingness to learn general labor and property (apartment) maintenance. This role supports the cleanliness and upkeep of both interior and exterior areas of the property.

Candidates should be able to follow multi-step instructions, work safely, and contribute to maintaining a well-presented environment. Prior experience with facilities maintenance is helpful but not required, as training is provided to support success in the role.

• The ability to drive a golf cart and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
