Job summary

SIS Pitches USA is seeking a motivated Sports Turf Groundskeeper to maintain the natural-grass pitches at a professional soccer training facility in Whippany, New Jersey. This hands-on role involves working directly on playing surfaces and operating professional turf maintenance equipment.

The role requires the ability to work as part of a small team, with a focus on safe, high-quality playing surfaces for daily professional soccer training. Weekend/early-morning work may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous turf-maintenance experience is preferred.
• Experience in sports turf, golf course maintenance, professional landscaping, sod production, or related turfgrass environment is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with professional mowing and turf-maintenance equipment is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of irrigation and turfgrass maintenance is desirable.
• Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when required.
• Willingness to work occasional weekends, early mornings, or adjusted schedules based on training and operational requirements.
• Valid driver's license.
• Turfgrass education, pesticide application certification, or related professional training is an advantage but is not required for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance of natural-grass soccer pitches.
• Mow playing surfaces with professional turf-maintenance equipment.
• Assist with line marking and field setup.
• Perform daily divot repair and post-training pitch cleanup.
• Assist with pitch preparation before training sessions.
• Operate turf-maintenance equipment including mowers, spreaders, sprayers, aerators, topdressers, verticutters, rollers, and grooming equipment.
• Assist with irrigation operation and monitoring.
• Assist with fertilizer, wetting-agent, seed, and other turf-product applications.
• Perform aeration, topdressing, verticutting, grooming, brushing, rolling, and overseeding.
• Monitor turf conditions and report potential problems to the Head Groundsman.
• Assist with disease, insect, and weed monitoring.
• Assist with surface-performance testing and data collection.
• Perform routine cleaning, inspection, and basic preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain clean and organized equipment and maintenance areas.
• Assist with seasonal pitch renovations and recovery programs.
• Support other pitch-maintenance activities as directed by the Head Groundsman.

About the Role

SIS Pitches is seeking a motivated Sports Turf Groundskeeper to join our grounds team responsible for maintaining the natural-grass pitches at a professional soccer training facility in Whippany, New Jersey.

This is a fully hands-on position working directly on the playing surfaces and operating professional sports-turf maintenance equipment.

The Sports Turf Technician will work closely with the Head Groundsman to provide safe, consistent, high-quality playing surfaces for daily professional soccer training.
