Job summary

Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) is hiring a campus landscaper to perform exterior grounds maintenance, snow removal, and related outdoor tasks across CNM campuses. This role operates outdoors and adapts to seasonal weather conditions while ensuring safe walkways and open spaces for students and staff.

Under supervision, you will use mowers, trimmers, edgers and other equipment, trim trees and shrubs, maintain irrigation systems, and perform basic fertilizer and chemical applications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior groundskeeping experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate motorized equipment (mowers, trimmer, edger, etc.).
• Perform trimming around sidewalks and beds; prune trees and shrubs.
• Maintain irrigation controls and repairs.
• Apply fertilizers and pesticides per safety standards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and outdoor surfaces.
• Assist in snow removal and clearing walkways.
• Work with campus staff to support CNM campuses.

Position Summary

Under immediate supervision, perform campus landscaping maintenance in a group or independently to establish a safe environment around the campus. This position works outdoors and will be exposed to seasonal changes in weather.

Perform snow removal on snow days. Clearing walkways and driveways around the campus. Establishing a safe environment for faculty, staff, and students.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Knowledge of operating motorized equipment such as mowers, line trimmer, edger, hedger, chainsaw, thatcher, aerator, and leaf blower.
• Knowledge of tractor and skid steer.
• Knowledge of irrigation controls, irrigation systems, and irrigation repairs.
• Perform trimming around sidewalks, flower beds, and walkways. Trimming and pruning trees and shrubs. Clearing leaves and debris throughout the campus.
• Understand how to mix and apply fertilizer, herbicides, insecticides, and two cycle gas mix in accordance with safety standards.
• Maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Maintenance of bleachers, picnic tables, and other surfaces, to include graffiti removal around the campus.
• Participate in team projects and other related duties of a similar nature and level at all CNM campuses.
• Establishes and maintains constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, or managers in the work unit and other departments, as well as with staff of outside entities and other individuals, as applicable to the essential duties and responsibilities
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and previous experience preferred.
