Job summary

The Town of Fountain Hills is seeking a Groundskeeper II to maintain parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, landscaped areas and recreational facilities. This full-time position supports the Parks team with grounds maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, and field preparation to keep Town facilities attractive and safe for residents and visitors.

• One year of landscape maintenance or groundskeeping.
• Valid Arizona Driver's License for a minimum of two years with good driving record.
• CPR and First Aid certifications; Structural Pest Control license within one year of hire.
• Equivalent combinations of experience and training accepted.

Responsibilities

• Maintain park grounds by removing trash and litter, and cleaning restrooms and other public areas.
• Perform landscaping maintenance including pruning and planting trees and turf care.
• Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems and program controllers.
• Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities.
• Apply pesticides and other landscape treatments as appropriate.
• Perform minor construction and general facility maintenance duties.
• Order supplies and maintain inventory records.
• Assist Park Operations Lead with coordinating and supervising contractors and seasonal staff.

Job description

The Town of Fountain Hills (fountainhillsaz.gov) has an excellent full-time job opportunity available as a Groundskeeper II. This position helps maintain the Town's parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, landscaped areas, and recreational facilities. Working as part of the Parks team, the Groundskeeper II performs a variety of grounds maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, and athletic field preparation duties to help keep Town facilities attractive, safe, and enjoyable for residents and visitors. Position will remain open until filled.

• Performlandscapemaintenance,includingpruningandplantingtrees,fertilizingturf,controllingweeds,andoverseedingturfandathleticfields.

• AssumeassigneddutiesoftheParkOperationsLeadduringtheirabsence.

• IdentifypotentialsafetyhazardsandhelpmaintainsafeworkingconditionsthroughoutTownparks.

• AssisttheParkOperationsLeadwithcoordinatingandoverseeingcontractors,temporaryemployees,andseasonalstaffasneeded.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

• Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency
• One year of landscape maintenance or groundskeeping.
• Possess a valid Arizona Driver's License for a minimum of two years with a good driving record; Playground Equipment and Safety training (within one year of hire); CPR certification; First Aid Certification; Structural Pest Control license (within one year of hire)
• **Equivalent combinations of experience and training that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
• Work requires the ability to read work schedules, instructions for equipment assembly, chemical distribution booklets, standard operating procedures, MSDS manuals, and equipment labels.
• Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Work requires the ability to fill out forms such as timesheets, leave requests, etc.
• Normal tasks require use of definite procedures, with little deviation. Work requires limited analysis.
• The incumbents in this position contact others within the organization. These contacts may involve similar work units or departments within the Town, which may be involved in decision-making or providing approval or decision-making authority for purchases or projects.
