The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Groundskeeper I to maintain campus grounds, including lawns, sidewalks, and outdoor amenities. You will perform routine maintenance, operate power tools, and assist with larger projects as part of a team on site.
The role requires physical fitness, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a valid US driver’s license. Shifts are day/1st shift, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m.
The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
Performs routine and project maintenance of University grounds which includes lawns, exterior planted materials (trees, bushes, plants, etc.), sidewalks, parking lots, driveways, trash receptacles, outside furnishings and equipment, patios, decks, artwork, athletic fields, running tracks, and other areas. May be called upon to perform the work of or assist other maintenance personnel including, but not limited to, Outside Construction Workers, Painters and outside contractors. Performs other duties and responsibilities may be assigned or directed by Division management and supervision.
$15.00 - $16.25 (Commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30p.m. (subject to change to meet the needs of the University).
Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicles in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
