Job summary

The Groundskeeper role at Jellystone Park Petoskey is responsible for maintaining the resort grounds, safety, and functionality. This position supports daily landscaping and outdoor upkeep to ensure the property meets Jellystone Park Petoskey standards.

Key duties include mowing, trimming, weed control, irrigation checks, trash collection, and reporting issues to management. The role requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a flexible schedule including nights

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous groundskeeping or landscaping experience, preferably in a resort or hospitality environment.
• Working knowledge of general grounds maintenance techniques.
• Ability to work outdoors in seasonal weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience operating hand tools, power equipment, and commercial machinery.
• Ability to complete basic written reports legibly.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform general grounds maintenance, including trash removal and basic repairs.
• Mow lawns, trim hedges, weed control, and manage landscaping.
• Remove tree limbs and debris after storms.
• Inspect irrigation systems and perform basic repairs.
• Collect trash daily and empty receptacles.
• Identify safety concerns and report them to management.
• Keep the resort clean, safe, and presentable.
• Safely operate vehicles and equipment required for the duties.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of the resort grounds. This role supports daily landscaping, grounds maintenance, and outdoor upkeep to ensure the resort consistently meets the Jellystone Park Petoskey standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general grounds maintenance, including trash removal, shoveling, and basic repairs using hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment (mowers, blowers, drills, saws, etc.)
• Maintain lawns and landscaped areas by mowing, trimming, weed control, weed whipping, raking leaves, planting flowers and shrubs, spreading mulch, woodchips, or stone, and trimming hedges
• Remove tree limbs or debris damaged by weather conditions
• Inspect irrigation systems regularly and perform basic repairs as needed
• Collect trash and debris from common areas and roadways daily; empty trash receptacles as required
• Identify and report maintenance issues or safety concerns to management
• Ensure the resort remains clean, safe, and presentable at all times
• Safely operate vehicles and equipment required to perform job duties
• Follow all safety policies and procedures
• Complete other duties and special projects as assigned
