Job summary

Madix Inc. seeks a Grounds Maintenance Technician to care for outdoor spaces at our Terrell, Texas facility. You will plant and prune shrubs, mow lawns, water plants, and perform irrigation duties. The job requires operating mowers, edgers and related equipment, plus basic maintenance of tools.

Responsibilities include weed and pest control, snow removal, parking lot upkeep, and installing signs or barriers as needed. A safety‑conscious, reliable team member will thrive here.

Qualifications

• One year of grounds maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds construction and care.
• Knowledge of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides used in grounds care and gardening.
• Ability to wear protective equipment such as earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, boots, respirators.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Plant shrubs, trees, and flowers and prune.
• Mow lawns, remove debris, and maintain clean grounds.
• Water trees, shrubs, and lawns and perform irrigation tasks.
• Spray for weeds and insects as required with safe practices.
• Operate mowers, edgers, and other grounds equipment.
• Haul trash and perform minor equipment maintenance.
• Assist in parking lot and surface maintenance, including repairs.
• Shovel snow and ice from designated areas.
• Install and remove outdoor signs and barriers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

• Plants shrubs, trees, and flowers; prunes trees and shrubs.
• Removes debris from stairs and walkways/sidewalks, rakes leaves, and mows lawns.
• Waters trees, shrubs, and lawns and performs irrigation activities.
• Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required.
• Operates large power lawn mowers, edgers, hand tools, and large vehicles associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities.
• Operates pick‑up trucks, flat‑rack trucks, and dump trucks for hauling purposes and for trash and debris removal.
• Performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required.
• Assists in the maintenance of parking lots and other surfaces, including asphalt repairs and minor masonry or plastering work as required.
• Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks, and entryways as required.
• Installs and removes outdoor signs, parking and traffic control barriers, and overhead banners as required.
• Preform other duties as assigned.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds construction and care.
• Knowledge of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides used in grounds care and gardening.
• Skill in operating grounds maintenance and grounds construction equipment.
• Ability to wear protective equipment such as earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, boots, respirators, etc.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Education and Experience

• One year of grounds maintenance experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Work Environment

• Outdoor with extreme fluctuation in temperature.
• Dusty and noisy environment.
• Exposure to odors and fumes.
