Job description

Position Purpose

Under the supervision of the Grounds Manager, the Groundskeeper will perform maintenance tasks for the care of landscaped areas, keeping lawns, trees, shrubs, flowerbeds, and other landscaping elements. Tend to the seasonal needs of walkways and parking lots, as well as site‑specific structures like fountains, statues, seating areas, fences, and buildings. The shift requires availability from 7am - 3:30pm. Day school students will not be considered.

Essential Duties

Cultivate, water, and trim lawns
Operate a power mower, power edger, tractor, and other power equipment
Daily remove trash and debris on the property
Maintain fertilizing schedules of trees, shrubs, and lawns
Assist in the preparation of turf and lawn areas, general grounds, maintenance work, and in moving equipment and furniture when necessary
Assist with snow removal
Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem‑solving skills
Operate power equipment related to landscaping and gardening
Basic methods, supplies, and tools used in cultivating and caring for grounds
Perform general gardening and grounds work
Operate automatic sprinkling system clocks
Perform heavy physical labor and be able to lift and carry up to 80lbs
Operate snow removal equipment and chainsaws in the removal of trees and shrubs
Must be able to effectively operate Windows‑based computers and navigate Microsoft Office Suite
Sit/Stand/Walk for extended periods

Requirements

Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
Must sign the Statement of Faith
A high school diploma or equivalent education is required
A Charis Bible College student or graduate is preferred
Develop and maintain cooperative working relations with those contacted in the course of work
Maintain a valid Driver’s license
Must pass all required checks

Experience

Any combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities listed herein
Minimum of one year of experience in grounds work and maintenance or related field
Compensation is commensurate with experience
