Maricopa Unified School District #20 in Maricopa, AZ is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain grounds, fields and outdoor areas. This non-exempt, 40-hour/week, 12-month position starts immediately and follows the district's compensation plan.

Responsibilities include mowing, irrigation, herbicide/insecticide spraying, playground inspection, minor repairs, and operating hand tools and equipment. Must have a valid driver's license; HS diploma preferred; Arizona DPS IVP clearance.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications include a valid Driver License.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Herbicide/Insecticide spray licensure preferred or obtainable within 6 months.
• Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance card required.

Responsabilités

• Mows grass, trims trees and operates weed eater.
• Irrigates sites and maintains sprinkler systems.
• Administers herbicides and insecticides as directed.
• Inspects playground equipment and fences; performs minor repairs.

Purpose Statement:To maintain grounds, fields and other outside areas of the District.

• Dragging, Cleaning & Maintaining the District retention areas
• Substituting if necessary
• Mows grass, trims trees, operates a weed eater and performs other grounds keeping activities.
• Irrigates all sites and maintains/repairs sprinkler systems.
• Assists with spraying by administering herbicides and insecticides
• Assists with fertilization of fields and turf areas
• Inspects playground equipment and fences. Makes minor repairs when required.
• Operates hand tools and other light and heavy equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Knowledge of grounds keeping practices and techniques.
• Knowledge of general safety rules and techniques.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment used in grounds keeping activities.
• Knowledge of and skill to administer herbicides and insecticides
• Skill in operating hand tools, mowers and other light and heavy equipment.
• Skill in performing basic repair and maintenance techniques and procedures.
• Skill in responding to work orders, troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical failures.
• Skill in communicating orally and in writing.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.

• 2 years of experience (Recommended)
• Herbicide/Insecticide Spray Licensure (Preferred or obtainable within 6-months of hire
• Valid Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance card

Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following
physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and
balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 20% walking, and 70% standing. The job isperformed under with some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
