Job summary

The City of Griffin is seeking a part-time groundskeeper to maintain the City golf course and surrounding park areas. You will perform mowing, bunker maintenance, fertilization, irrigation, debris cleanup, and facility cleaning to keep the grounds in top condition.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of landscaping or related experience, can operate mowers and basic tools, and are flexible to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must understand techniques, equipment and materials used in golf course turf maintenance including greens, tees and fairways.
• Knowledge of fertilizers and soil conditioners.
• Knowledge of irrigation and drainage control and practices.
• Skill in the use of equipment and tools such as chain saws, rider and push mowers, shovels, picks, levels, etc.
• Minimum of one year of landscaping or related experience required.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Previous relevant golf course maintenance experience, preferred.

• Participates in the daily maintenance of the golf course, including mowing operations, bunker maintenance, course fertilization, pesticide applications, and irrigation operations.


• Cuts grass using either a push or rider mower


• Assist in maintaining an attractive park area by picking up paper and other debris.


• Cleans pavilions and parks facilities.


• Trims trees and limbs.


• May perform maintenance work in parks, golf course or other facilities.


• May act as a flagger to direct traffic around work sites.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Must nderstand the techniques, equipment and materials used in the development, renovation and maintenance of golf course turf including greens, tees and fairways.


• Knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of fertilizers and soil conditioners.


• Knowledge of irrigation and drainage control and practices.


• Skill in the use of equipment and tools such as chain saws, rider and push mowers, shovels, picks, levels, etc.,


• Skill in performing general maintenance duties.


• Skill in following oral directions.


• Minimum of one year of landscaping or related experience required.


• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.


• Previous relvant golf course maintenance experience, preferred.

***This is a part time position with an hourly pay of $16.00***
