Job summary

YES Communities in East Lansing, MI is seeking a Grounds Keeper to maintain community grounds and facilities, enhance curb appeal, and support residents. You will perform mowing, edging, trimming, and basic landscaping to keep the grounds attractive and safe for residents.

Responsibilities include upkeep of assets, equipment maintenance, OSHA PPE compliance, and assisting with general maintenance tasks as directed by the community manager.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid in-state driver’s license required.
  • Experience with groundskeeping tasks and basic equipment maintenance.

  • Mow lawns and trim edges around walks and flower beds.

Grounds Keeper Position Overview:

In this role, you'll be essential in keeping our community grounds and facilities well-maintained and visually appealing . Responsibilities include cleaning up trash and debris, raking leaves, sweeping walkways, mowing lawns, and trimming trees and hedges. In addition, your main focus will be adding curb appeal to the community.

Grounds Keeper Essential Functions:
  • Maintain community assets including grounds, buildings, equipment, pools, etc.
  • Mow lawns and trim edges around walks, flower beds, etc.
  • Landscaping, including but not limited to, mowing, trimming, planting flowers, maintaining tree limbs and prune the grounds as needed
  • Perform minor repairs on equipment utilized in groundskeeping
  • Follow all OSHA standards and maintain PPE equipment
  • Respond to emergency calls as directed by management if applicable.
  • Communicateeffectivelywithteammembers, vendors,andresidents.
  • Assist with maintenance tasks, including but not limited to delivering notices and conducting meter reads as directed by the community manager
  • Maintain safe winter road conditions through snow removal and de-icing when applicable
  • Additional duties as assigned by management and subject to change
Grounds Keeper Physical Requirements:
  • Abilitytostandandwalkforuptoeight(8)hoursperday
  • Capacity to reach with arms and hands overhead and in front ofyourbody safely.
  • Frequentlyrequiredtobeflexiblebyclimbing,balancing,oroccasionallycrawlinginconfinedspaces
  • Ability to see clearly at both far and close distances as well as the capacity to adjust focus effectively.
  • Requiredtoregularly push,pull,lift,orcarry50lbs.Occasionallyupto85lbs.
  • Proper handling of potentially hazardouschemicals
  • Mustbeabletoclimbladders,occasionallyuptoan8-footladdersafely
Grounds Keeper Education and Experience:
  • A valid in-state driver’s license is required
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Proficiency inMicrosoftOffice and industry specificsoftwareproducts including the use of electronic devices, such as a work tablet or computer
  • OSHA certifications or completed trainings are aplus
