Job summary

Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (NWMRMC) is seeking a dependable Groundskeeper to maintain hospital grounds, landscaping, parking areas, sidewalks, and exterior property. The role supports clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for patients and visitors.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, and maintenance. Join a team committed to quality care and community support.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain hospital lawns and exterior spaces including flower beds, shrubs, trees.

  • Remove leaves and debris; keep parking lots and sidewalks clear of hazards.
  • Operate groundskeeping equipment safely and perform routine maintenance.

In this essential role, you will help maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of our hospital grounds, landscaping, parking areas, sidewalks, and exterior property. Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain hospital lawns, landscaped areas, flower beds, shrubs, trees, and other exterior spaces
  • Mow, edge, trim, rake, weed, and perform routine lawn and landscape maintenance
  • Plant, water, mulch, and maintain flowers, shrubs, and seasonal landscaping as assigned
  • Remove leaves, limbs, litter, debris, and other materials from hospital grounds
  • Keep parking lots, sidewalks, entrances, driveways, and exterior common areas clean and free of hazards
  • Perform routine sweeping, blowing, pressure washing, and exterior cleaning as needed
  • Monitor exterior areas for trip hazards, drainage concerns, damaged landscaping, or other safety issues
  • Respond promptly to storm debris, fallen limbs, and other weather-related groundskeeping needs
  • Assist with ice or snow removal when necessary
  • Safely operate lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, hand tools, and other groundskeeping equipment
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance of groundskeeping equipment
  • Move outdoor furniture, supplies, equipment, and materials as needed
  • Maintain adequate inventory of groundskeeping supplies, tools, and materials
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, repair needs, property damage, and safety concerns
  • Follow OSHA, hospital safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and departmental procedures
  • Support Facilities, Maintenance, and other hospital departments with outdoor projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, lawn care, maintenance, custodial, or similar experience preferred
  • Experience operating commercial lawn and landscaping equipment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of lawn care, landscaping practices, and outdoor property maintenance preferred
  • Ability to safely operate power tools and groundskeeping equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Dependable attendance and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull
  • Ability to safely lift and carry tools, equipment, landscaping materials, and supplies
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work
  • Ability to work in heat, cold, rain, humidity, pollen, dust, and other outdoor environmental conditions
