Job summary

Sylvania in Texas maintains safe and attractive grounds for the district. The Groundskeeper is responsible for mowing, detailing, watering, pruning, and caring for beds, shrubs, and athletic fields; assist with chalking fields and sprinklers.

You will follow safety procedures, operate power-driven equipment, transport tools across sites, and work extended hours as needed. A valid Texas driver’s license and clear communication are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to understand detailed written or oral instructions.
• Effective communication with district staff and supervisors.
• Experience operating power-driven landscaping equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mow and detail district grounds, including athletic fields.
• Follow maintenance plan for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers; watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, weed control.
• Plant shrubs and vegetation; assist with preparation of athletic fields (chalk).
• Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from facilities.
• Assist with inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.
• Operate tools safely and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
