• We are hiring immediately for a full time GROUNDS MECHANIC position.


• Location: University of South Florida - 4202 East Fowler Avenue, Tampa, FL 33620. (Openings at other locations within school district available) Note: online applications accepted only.


• Schedule: Full time schedule; Monday through Friday, hours may vary. More details upon interview. (Full and Part Time with the flexibility to meet most scheduling needs)

• Fixed Pay Rate: $22.77 per hour.

Job Summary

Grounds Mechanic provides leadership and is tasked to complete assignments in and around the maintenance shop yard. Primary responsibility is the repair and maintenance of grounds management equipment.

This is a working position with infrequent administrative work assignments. Position expectation: 95% of time will be mechanical duties, 5% administrative.

Primary Responsibilities

• Proficiency in; safety / compliance, safe operational procedures, and company safety policies.


• Assure quality and safety in shop and yard as required by OSHA, ANSI, EPA, State and local authorities.


• Prioritize and schedule repairs and, preventative maintenance.


• Coordinate work schedules and work project assignments.


• Inspect equipment and routinely exercise machines/tractors to test for malfunctions, breaks, battery, etc.


• Ensure compliance by comprehensive and consistent record keeping licensure and /or certifications.


• Coordinate with Director of Grounds, to complete periodic shop and asset inspections to ensure cleanliness, order, compliance, and perception.


• Conduct unsupervised repair and maintenance assignments.


• Ensure that all vehicles, trailers and equipment maintenance/inspection reports are completed accordingly for accuracy and are kept current and up to date.


• Record all production and tracking on parts and time spent per individual piece of equipment.
