State of Washington seeks a Grounds & Maintenance Custodian in Spokane, WA. The role reports to the Building and Grounds Supervisor within the Air Guard Maintenance Division at Fairchild AFB, performing routine grounds and building maintenance, janitorial duties, and some custodial tasks for assigned buildings and grounds.
The position is civilian, does not require military service, and involves background checks for DoD CAC access.
As a Grounds and Maintenance Custodian you will report to the Building and Grounds Supervisor within the Air Guard Maintenance Division located at Fairchild Airforce Base and are a civilian employee. This position is responsible for providing routine grounds maintenance, building maintenance and some janitorial and custodial duties to assigned buildings and grounds.
This is a civilian position and does not require military service affiliation.

One year of experience in custodial services, janitorial services, grounds maintenance, building maintenance, and/or construction.
Wage/salary depends on qualifications or rules of promotion.
Must successfully complete the appropriate background checks required for employment and to obtain/maintain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) in order to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret-level security clearance. Must be willing to sign releases of information and shall not have access to any investigative materials and files. The processing of background checks can take up to six months post-employment. Failure to successfully pass a background check may be cause for termination.
This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association (WPEA).
Willingness to work on a Military Controlled Access Installation. Camp Murray and Fairchild AFB utilize the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) for entry to the installation. Must meet access requirements / background check which can be found in the Camp Murray Access Requirements Policy (Unified Policy No. 18-01).
The standard work schedule will be Monday - Thursday (4/10 schedule) 6:00am - 4:30pm.
This position is not eligible for telework.
Upon activation of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) or Joint Field Office (JFO), incumbent may be required to work in an alternate location with rotating shifts, including weekends and evenings, in a highly stressful and fast-paced environment.
Occasional statewide travel may be required up to 5% to include overnight stays.
