Job summary

SSC Services for Education, a Compass Group company, is hiring a Grounds Lead at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC. The role leads a small team, trains and coordinates grounds personnel, and performs skilled groundskeeping tasks.

The position requires prior team leadership in grounds management, operating grounds equipment, and physical endurance to handle heavy lifting and extended outdoor work. 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday–Friday; pay range $19–$21 per hour.

Qualifications

• Two years of team leader experience in grounds management.
• Ability to operate grounds-related equipment.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small groundskeeping team in routine tasks.
• Oversee ornamental landscapes, lawns, shrubs, and color displays.
• Perform weed abatement and grounds maintenance tasks.
• Operate groundskeeping power equipment as needed.
• Coordinate trash/debris removal and maintenance of parking lots and paths.
• Maintain weekly reports on tool, equipment, and vehicle maintenance.
• Deploy for emergency responses to weather events or crises.
