Ysleta Independent School District is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Specialist to oversee grounds crews, maintain plants and athletic fields, and ensure safe, compliant operations districtwide.
The role requires a High School diploma or GED, a TDA pesticide applicator license (or within 90 days), and 3 years of grounds maintenance experience. A Texas/New Mexico driver’s license and English proficiency are also required.
Perform grounds maintenance, conservation, and improvement duties as part of a grounds crew. Support and assist grounds crew in maintaining, conserving, and improving grounds districtwide. Maintain and care for the appearance of grounds, trees, and shrubs. Manage a program of vegetation, pest control, and training in grounds keepers. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations.
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); must possess a TDA non-commercial pesticide applicator license, category 3A or must obtain within 90 days of employment; and three (3) years experience in grounds maintenance. Valid Texas/New Mexico Driver's License; must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Subject to the district drug and alcohol testing policy and regulation.
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide travel; must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to fifty (50) pounds frequently; work under all weather conditions, around/on moving objects or vehicles, and work under noisy conditions; be adaptable to work a shift schedule and/or hours other than regularly assigned; extended periods of walking, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, reaching, stooping, heavy lifting and carrying. Subject to district drug and alcohol testing policy. Be exposed to insects; ability to work with pesticides and herbicides or other potentially hazardous materials in a safe manner.
