Job summary

Lenoir Community College is seeking a part-time Grounds Assistant to perform a variety of landscape maintenance tasks on campus. The role involves watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, and fertilizing lawns, as well as maintaining beds and drainage features.

The candidate will operate and maintain a range of grounds equipment and tools, and participate in other related duties as required. The position emphasizes physical effort and adherence to campus standards.

Qualifications

• Prior grounds maintenance experience required.
• Must be able to operate a zero-turn mower.
• Must have a valid NC driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, and fertilizing lawns.
• Maintain beds, ditch banks, and wood lines including mulching and weed control.
• Sweep or blow off drive and parking lots; keep catch basins clear of debris.
• Operate and maintain grounds maintenance landscaping heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Job description

This position is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled landscaping and grounds maintenance duties involved in the maintenance of landscaped areas on campus and operation of grounds maintenance machinery, equipment, and tools.

Working Conditions

• The job is performed under some temperature extremes
• Moderate physical effort requiring long periods of standing, walking, and periodic lifting of 50 pounds or more
• Frequent climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling

The duties of the Grounds Assistant (Part-time) include, but are not limited to:

• Participate in a variety of landscape maintenance duties including watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, and fertilizing lawns
• Maintain beds, ditch banks, and wood lines including mulching and weed control
• Sweep and/or blow off drive and parking lots; keep catch basins and other drainage features clear of debris
