Job summary

Pike Electric, LLC seeks a Groundman to join our field teams supporting underground distribution systems. You will assist foremen in building, repairing, and maintaining the power grid while prioritizing safety and efficiency on outdoor worksites.

Responsibilities include operating across construction and maintenance sites, traveling to assignments as needed, and performing rigorous physical labor in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License required; ability to obtain CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift, carry, push or pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of underground distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
• Assist in installing and repairing underground facilities and related hardware.
• Maintain excavation equipment (backhoes, trenchers, excavators, pulling equipment).
• Work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
• Available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
• Follow safety protocols including PPE and insulated protective equipment.
• Inspect PPE and rubber goods; understand when to wear PPE.
• Perform rigorous physical labor as required.

Job description

Position Summary

The Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You will assist your team in building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems. You will report to the Foreman.

Essential Functions

• Perform new construction, maintain and repair underground distribution systems while putting safety first.




• Help install and repair underground facilities, underground conductors, and related hardware.




• Maintain excavation equipment to include backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.




• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.




• Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.




• Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.




• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).




• Understanding of when to wear personal protective equipment.




• Will perform rigorous physical labor.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid Driver's License and able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.

• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.




• Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.




• Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at constructions job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
