Job summary

Pike Electric LLC is seeking a Groundman to join our field teams supporting underground electrical distribution work. You will assist with construction, maintenance and repair of underground systems, reporting to the Foreman and prioritizing safety.

The role requires willingness to travel, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility for outages, overtime and on-call rotations, with outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Willing to work outside normal hours, including weekends, holidays, overtime.

Responsibilities

• Assist team in building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems.
• Report to Foreman and support field operations.
• Perform new construction and maintenance on underground distribution systems.
• Help install and repair underground facilities and conductors.
• Maintain excavation equipment such as backhoes, trenchers, and excavators.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions and during outages or emergencies.

Job description

The Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You will assist your team in building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems. You will report to the Foreman.

Perform new construction, maintain and repair underground distribution systems while putting safety first.

Help install and repair underground facilities, underground conductors, and related hardware.

Maintain excavation equipment to include backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.

Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.

Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.

Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.

Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Understanding of when to wear personal protective equipment.

Valid Driver's License and able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.

Willing to travel long distances on short notice.

Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work for extended periods at job locations, including out ‑ of ‑ state assignments.

Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
