Job summary

Pike Electric LLC in the United States seeks a Groundman to join our power grid construction team. You will report to the Foreman and perform essential line work outdoors in varying conditions.

This role emphasizes safety, physical endurance, and readiness for outages, storms, and on‑call rotations; CDL is required within 60 days, and travel may be required. We offer comprehensive benefits and a family‑oriented safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
  • Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Work extended periods at multiple job locations, including out‑of‑state.
  • Willing to work outside normal hours, including weekends, holidays, emergencies and overtime.

Responsibilities

The Groundman is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You will report to the Foreman.

Essential Functions
  • Perform new construction, maintain and repair de ‑ energized powerlines while putting safety first.
  • Help install and repair overhead transmission lines, poles, insulators, conductors and related hardware.
  • You will perform rigorous physical labor and regularly lift heavy tools and equipment.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good work order.
  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
  • Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
  • Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all safety protocols and understand when to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 60 days.
  • Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work for extended periods at different job locations, including out ‑ of ‑ state assignments.
  • Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
