Job summary

Pike Electric LLC is seeking a Groundman to support construction and maintenance of the electric grid. You’ll perform line work, assist with overhead transmission components and follow strict safety protocols under the Foreman’s supervision.

The role involves physical labor, working outdoors in all weather, overtime and potential travel to out‑of‑state sites. A valid driver's license and CDL eligibility within 60 days are required.

Qualifications

  • Physical stamina for heavy manual labor.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL within 60 days.
  • Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Experience or willingness to work outages, storms and emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform new construction and maintain/repair de-energized powerlines.
  • Install and repair overhead transmission lines, poles, insulators, conductors and related hardware.
  • Lift, carry, push or pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good order.
  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions and weather.
  • Follow safety protocols and wear PPE as required.
  • Assist with on-call rotation and overtime as needed.
  • Report to Foreman and work at multiple job sites, including out-of-state.
  • Inspect PPE and stay alert to job hazards.

Job description

The Groundman is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You will report to the Foreman.

Perform new construction, maintain and repair de ‑ energized powerlines while putting safety first.

Help install and repair overhead transmission lines, poles, insulators, conductors and related hardware.

You will perform rigorous physical labor and regularly lift heavy tools and equipment.

Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good work order.

Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.

Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.

Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Follow all safety protocols and understand when to wear Personal Protective Equipment.

Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 60 days.

Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.

Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work for extended periods at different job locations, including out ‑ of ‑ state assignments.

Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
