Job summary

Pike Corporation is seeking a Groundman in the United States Georgia Midway area to support crews building, repairing, and maintaining overhead distribution systems. You will report to the Foreman and perform physically demanding, outdoor work with a strong emphasis on safety.

Responsibilities include assisting with construction, maintenance and repair of power lines and related hardware, ensuring PPE usage, and being available for outages, storms, and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Valid drivers license required; CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willing to work outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction, maintenance and repair of overhead distribution systems.
• Assist in installing and repairing power lines, poles, insulators and conductors.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good condition.
• Work outdoors in varied weather conditions and be prepared for outages or emergencies.

Position Summary

The Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You will assist your team in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems. You will report to the Foreman.

Essential Functions

• Perform new construction, maintain and repair overhead distribution systems while putting safety first.
• Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors and related hardware.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
• Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
• Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Understanding of when to wear personal protective equipment.
• Will perform rigorous physical labor.

Minimum Requirements

• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work for extended periods at job locations, including out‑of‑state assignments.

You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
