Job summary

Pike Electric LLC is seeking a Groundman to support the construction and maintenance of overhead electrical distribution systems. You will assist the crew, report to the Foreman, and contribute to safe, efficient project execution.

The role requires physical labor, willingness to travel, and flexibility to work outside regular hours and in various weather conditions. Training and safety protocols are emphasized as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
• Willing to work outside normal hours, including weekends and emergencies.
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction, repair and maintenance of overhead distribution systems.
• Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators and conductors.
• Maintain vehicles, equipment and tools in good condition.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions and inclement weather.
• Participate in on-call rotation for outages, storms and emergencies.

Job description

Position Summary

The Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You will assist your team in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems. You will report to the Foreman.

Essential Functions

• Perform new construction, maintain and repair overhead distribution systems while putting safety first.
• Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors and related hardware.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
• Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
• Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Understanding of when to wear personal protective equipment.
• Will perform rigorous physical labor.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid Driver's License and able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
