Title: Ground System Engineer

The Opportunity

We're seeking a technical engineer who can translate real‑world needs into technical specifications for national security space missions. As part of Booz Allen’s Remote Sensing Systems Engineering and Integration team, you will develop and deploy next‑generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) ground‑system capabilities for the military.

Role Responsibilities

You will work with Booz Allen colleagues and the military to develop technical requirements, concepts of operations, acquisition plans, interface control documents, technical assessments, integration and verification plans, and digital mission models for satellite ground systems.

You Have

• 3+ years of experience performing systems engineering analysis and developing systems engineering products for satellite or ground systems for command and control and data processing.
• Experience developing technical specifications, ICDs, ground architectures, integration plans, schedules, and test plans.
• Experience integrating software systems for weapon systems, including multi‑performer teams with differing development schedules, lifecycles, and priorities.
• Experience planning and executing program reviews throughout the lifecycle of the system.
• Knowledge of satellite ground system design, cloud architectures, DevOps/DevSecOps, software frameworks, communication and networking, data processing, exploitation, and dissemination, space system operations and tasking, mission planning, space‑ground integration, or space system factory support.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Top Secret clearance.
• Either an HS diploma or GED and 15+ years of experience with large‑scale ground systems engineering on space programs, or a Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience with large‑scale ground systems engineering on space programs.

Nice If You Have

• Experience managing traceability of requirements and developing testable criteria, system validation and verification, and analysis.
• Experience performing systems engineering, integration, and testing on space‑based remote sensing systems (e.g., SBIRS, Next Generation OPIR, FORGE, STSS, HBTSS, DMSP, WSF‑M, EWS).
• Experience using a model‑based systems engineering approach to manage system definitions and technical baselines.
• Knowledge of DoD 5000.01 and 5000.02.
• Knowledge of systems engineering standards (IEEE 15288.1 and IEEE 15288.2).
• Knowledge of network architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or CS.
• INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional Certification (ASEP, CSEP, ESEP).

Clearance

Applicants must be eligible for a Top Secret clearance. Security investigation will be required for selected candidates.

Compensation

Projected salary range: $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually (USD). Benefits may include health, life, disability, financial, retirement, paid leave, professional development, tuition assistance, work‑life programs, and dependent care.
