Job summary

D.O.M. magazine is hiring a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic in Reno, NV for a full-time, 1st shift position (Mon–Fri 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM). Diagnose, repair and maintain aircraft ground support equipment including tugs, loaders, A/C units and power carts.

Strong mechanical and electrical skills are required, with hands-on diesel engine, hydraulic and pneumatic experience. Minimum 2 years in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance is expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years hands-on automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing GSE and diesel engine systems.
  • Ability to read manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record; airport ID badge eligibility

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical failures on GSE such as tugs, belt loaders, A/C units and power carts.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on customer-owned and company-owned equipment for safety and performance.
  • Troubleshoot diesel, gasoline and LP engines focusing on fuel, ignition and wear.
  • Analyze faults in electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic start systems using schematics and tools.
  • Use diagnostic software to evaluate Powertrain Management Systems and onboard modules.
  • Complete repair orders and maintenance logs per company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate safety concerns and service requests to management promptly.
  • Keep workspace clean and safe; support special projects and emergency repairs.

Job Title: Ground Support Equipment MechanicLocation: Reno, NVEmployment Type: Full-TimeShift: 1st Shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)Compensation: $27–$30/hour, based on experience and qualificationsPosition SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and dependable Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of aircraft ground support equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mechanical and electrical systems, with hands‑on experience in diesel engines, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of equipment used in airport operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical failures on various types of aircraft ground support equipment, including tugs, belt loaders, air conditioning units, and power carts
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and service repairs on both customer-owned and company-owned equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel, gasoline, and liquid propane (LP) engines, addressing issues related to fuel systems, ignition, and mechanical wear
  • Analyze and resolve faults in electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic start systems using technical schematics and diagnostic tools
  • Utilize specialized diagnostic software to evaluate and repair Powertrain Management Systems and other onboard control modules
  • Accurately complete vehicle repair orders, maintenance logs, and service documentation in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Communicate equipment safety concerns, operational issues, and customer service requests to management in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and company policies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management, including support for special projects and emergency repairs
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance
  • Proven expertise in diagnosing and repairing ground support equipment and diesel engine systems
  • Strong proficiency in troubleshooting and performing preventive maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems and diagnostic software tools
Additional Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training in automotive or diesel technology preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) policies required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an airport‑issued ID badge in accordance with airport security requirements
  • ASE certification preferred but not required
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
