Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in a science field. The position supports a 2nd shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) and requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a pathology team.

Responsibilities

• Verifying patient information and accessioning.
• Reviewing pertinent clinical history.
• Macroscopic examination of surgical tissue specimens with dictation and tissue sampling based on clinical history.
• Ensuring additional studies based on clinical history (e.g. decalcification, flow cytometry, crystal polarization).
• Keeping a clean and orderly workstation.
• Assisting with additional tasks as needed (specimen set up, accessioning, tumor banking, tissue disposal).

Role Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to perform macroscopic examinations of higher complexity surgical tissue specimens under the guidance of the Pathologists and/or Pathologists Assistants. This position may also perform additional duties as needed including courier count-in, accessioning, equipment maintenance or other duties as deemed necessary.

Responsibilities

• Verifying patient information and appropriate accessioning part type
• Reviewing pertinent clinical history
• Macroscopic examination of surgical tissue specimens with appropriate dictation and tissue sampling based on clinical history
• Ensuring additional studies/procedures are performed based on clinical history (i.e. decalcification, flow cytometry, crystal polarization)
• Keeping a clean and orderly workstation
• Assisting with additional tasks as needed (specimen set up, accessioning, tumor banking, tissue disposal, etc.)
